"Missive" is the offspring of a popular architectural or blueprint font often used in advertising. Missive (sample shown above) was entirely created from scratch by hand (mine), although it does attempt to preserve the general letterforms and grace of its ancestor.
Unlike its forebear, which was made with a round-tipped instrument, Missive was designed as if drawn by a narrow, flat pen held at a 45° angle. The flat pen results in the attractive, readable, thick-and-thin strokes associated with the best text fonts. In the case of Missive, the effect is as if one had used a narrow calligraphic pen to quickly but carefully jot a spontaneous, personal note.
You may purchase the right to use Missive for the very reasonable price of $5.00. Please send your cash or check, along with your name and address, to:
You will enjoy using Missive to print your own notes, letters, greetings, captions, short text, announcements, addressed envelopes, etc. in English, Spanish, French, and German. In addition to this generous character set, Missive also has a number of kerning pairs. Missive is quite readable from 10 points up, even when printed on nothing better than a 300 dpi laser printer (since I don't have anything better, I made sure). Missive also makes a decent display face.
In order to keep Missive small for downloading, only the 24 pt. screen (bitmap) font is included, but ATM renders the Type 1 version of Missive very well at all sizes on your screen.
I hope you find Missive as useful as I have! Your comments about Missive are welcome. And please don't forget to pay the shareware fee if you choose to use Missive.
